It's been a week and I'm very impressed. 5-10km per day during weekdays and it seems to be holding up well. I'll do a follow up in a few months to see how it holds up.
I mail customer support and they respond quickly but basically don't answer my questions at all. What I've updated below I figured out for myself. Honestly, there's not that much there to figure out.
Pros:
- it's quiet. if I'm on video I'm a bobbing head, but people can't hear the treadmill. it's not silent, but surprisingly quiet.
- it's sleek, it looks good
- it seems well built. the outside is all plastic, but it feels heavy, is very solid when opened and stable under foot
- the width is good; I was worried it might be too narrow but it's fine. My big treadmill is 20" wide, this one is 15.5" but it's fine because I'm not running on it
- it's light and easy to maneuver. the folding is very nice; I wish it would stand on it's end but I knew buying it that this wasn't a thing (higher models from WalkingPad do this). In the end I'm standing it on it's end and just leaning it against a shelf.
- it stops smoothly; I read some reviews that stopping was abrupt but it's as good as my full treadmill.
- quite workable on manual mode, 2mi/hr is good for drinking coffee and typing, 2.5 or 3 can work for on a call where I don't need to type (no drinking coffee either as it's hard not to spill)
- the app connected to my iphone without issue and I could view distance/time/calories/heartrate etc. on both it and my watch. watch could up/down the speed also
- other reviews complained you could feel the joint between the folded sections while walking, I don't find this to be an issue. it's not undetectable, but barely noticeable.
Cons (some are nit-picky):
- Update on the track not being centered - it's adjustable with the included hex key and once adjusted it stays centered well. You have to slide it to center when you open from folded but that's not unreasonable.
- the automatic mode is unworkable for me. I have to step too far forward to speed up and if I'm in the middle by my estimation it slows and stops. I'll have to play with it but I saw other reviews complaining about this so I'm not hopeful. That said, I don't really think I want this while I'm working.
- I was very surprised to find out it didn't to metric. In my research I saw how to select metric in the app but for the C2 the app tells me the pad doesn't support it and I stay in miles. Bought in Canada, it should have km. Not a deal breaker, just annoying.
- The speed setting kinda all over the place. automatic mode the pad seems to go up in .1 increments, watch app goes in .3 increments, remote does .5. Update here, the phone app lets me select in .1 increments with 3 saved favorites, so it's pretty good.
- the app has a daily goal setting thing that is workable, but if you just turn it on and walk it doesn't apply that to the daily goal, it seems you have to start it from inside the goal task.
- having used the app goals a bit, they don't meet my needs; you have to start your 10km walk and do it in one shot; I want to be able to walk between meetings or stop for phone calls, and it doesn't like this. In the end I just walk and keep a rough track of daily distance. it does have some stats in the app but you have to remember to connect from the app and start it there, if you just start w/ the remote with app disconnected and then let the machine time out or unplug it forgets what you did. Not unreasonable, just something to be aware of.
None of my cons are deal breakers, hence the 4 star rating. Based on what I see day 1 I don't regret the purchase.
We'll see how it stands up to 10km per day for a few months.
