About Us | Ergonofis

In 2015, two young Montreal entrepreneurs were spending long days at their desks. They knew what the research was already saying: sitting all day takes a toll on the body, and standing all day isn't the answer either. What they couldn't find in North America was a sit-stand desk that was both genuinely well built and beautiful enough to belong in a home.

So they made one. ergonofis was born from a simple idea: a desk shouldn't just hold your work, it should move with you. Solid wood, seamlessly integrated controls, clean lines. The Sway desk became the brand's signature and remains its heart today.

Over the following decade, ergonofis became a recognized name in ergonomic furniture across Canada and the United States. Tens of thousands of people chose to work differently. The philosophy never changed: design with intention, obsess over the details, source responsibly, and build things that last.

In 2026, the brand came close to disappearing. Maïté La Rosa and Didier Bonneville-Roussy refused to let that happen.

They led the takeover of ergonofis to preserve what made it matter, its designs, its craftsmanship, its community, and to carry it further. Their commitment is twofold. They stay true to the values the brand was built on, and they push harder on what a desk is actually for: your health and the quality of your work.

The human body wasn't built to hold one position for eight hours. It wasn't built to sit all day, and it wasn't built to stand all day either. What matters is changing positions, often and without friction.

That's the standard every ergonofis product is held to: does it make it easier to move more and sit less, without having to think about it? Memory presets that take you from sitting to standing at the touch of a button. Controls built into the surface, always within reach. A desk that invites movement instead of demanding discipline.

A good workspace removes friction; it doesn't add it. When your body is comfortable, your attention can go where it belongs: on the work. We design for the long days, the deep-focus hours, and the moments in between, because how you feel at your desk shapes what you're able to do there.

Our solid hardwood tops are crafted in Québec by local artisans. Every slab is unique: its grain, its tone, the way it ages with light and time. Our frames are engineered for years of daily use, and our products are designed to be maintained and repaired, not replaced. The most responsible piece of furniture is the one you keep for a very long time.

The design. The craftsmanship. The obsession with detail. And the conviction that your workspace should feel as good as it looks.

We're a lean, focused team with one mission: to help more people build workspaces that genuinely support their health and their work. We're rethinking what a desk can do, and we're just getting started.

Thank you for being part of the ergonofis story.

We believe it’s important to support organizations that take environmental responsibility as seriously as we do.

That’s why we’ve chosen to donate two days each year volunteering with Quebec-based environmental non-profits Le GRAME and Nature-Action Québec.
